So after quite a few hours playtime, I’ve finally completed Half-Life 2. It’s probably one of the best single-player games i’ve ever played, second only to Final Fantasy IX. HL2 was the first Source-based game I ever played (It was also the first ever released) and i’ve been really impressed by how amazing the engine is. Before getting HL2 the most advanced *cough* game i’d played was probably Wolfenstien ET (Based on Quake3, you get the idea :P) and I was used to the GoldSrc (Half-Life) engine, so moving to Source was a big leap forward for me and one i’m glad I took. Going from a world where you can shoot at things with very limited physics to a world where you can move object with a pretty state-of-the-art physics game engine has been great.
Now that I have completed HL2 I can get onto playing HL2:Episode One, a game with an even more advanced version of the source engine and some sexy High Dynamic Range lighting effects. Here’s a screenshot from HL2: Lost Coast that I took (Click for full-res):
In other news, i’ve added a page for Enablr, so unless it’s a major update don’t expect me to blog about it anymore.
